OSHA’s respiratory protection standard is consistently one of the safety agency’s top violations. But there’s good news for manufacturers that are required to comply with the standard.
OSHA recently announced a series of videos detailing proper respirator use, which will keep employees safe and manufacturers in compliance.
In 2011, inspectors dished out nearly 4,000 citations for violating the standard, making it the fourth most common citation.
OSHA has released 17 videos — 9 in English and 8 in Spanish — designed to help companies comply with OSHA’s standard. Topics of the videos include:
- Respiratory Protection in General Industry
- Respirator Types
- Respirator Fit Testing
- Maintenance and Care of Respirators
- Respiratory Protection Training Requirements, and
- Counterfeit and Altered Respirators: The Importance of NIOSH Certification.
The final video on counterfeit respirators is the only video not available in Spanish.
The videos can be downloaded or streamed at OSHA’s website.
